Hourly to Salary Calculator: Convert Your Hourly Rate to Annual Pay with Casual Loading and Super
This calculator converts an hourly rate to annual pay using a 38-hour week, 52 weeks, with optional 25% casual loading and 12% super paid on top.
How the Hourly to Salary Calculator Works
Our hourly to salary calculator converts your hourly rate into annual, fortnightly, and weekly figures using the standard formula: hourly rate × hours per week × 52 weeks. We assume a 38-hour week, which is the full-time ordinary hours under the Fair Work Act. If you work different hours, you can adjust the weekly hours in the calculator (though the default is 38).
For example, a base rate of $30.00 per hour gives:
- Weekly: $30.00 × 38 = $1,140.00
- Fortnightly: $1,140.00 × 2 = $2,280.00
- Annual: $30.00 × 38 × 52 = $59,280.00
This estimate assumes the same rate every week, no unpaid overtime, penalty rates, allowances, or salary sacrifice. It is a starting point for comparing offers or budgeting.
Casual Loading and Super Paid on Top
Casual Loading
If you are a casual employee, you are entitled to a 25% casual loading on top of the base hourly rate. The calculator has a checkbox to add this loading automatically. Do not enter a rate that already includes casual loading – let the calculator add it. For instance, a base rate of $26.44 (the National Minimum Wage) becomes $33.05 per hour with loading. This matches the Fair Work Commission’s casual rate from 1 July 2026.
Superannuation Paid on Top
Super guarantee is 12% of your ordinary earnings, paid by your employer on top of your gross pay. The calculator estimates super as 12% of your annual gross (including casual loading if applicable), up to the maximum contribution base of $270,830. This super is not deducted from your pay; it is an extra contribution to your super fund. For a base rate of $30.00 per hour (no loading), annual super would be 12% of $59,280 = $7,113.60, subject to the cap.
National Minimum Wage and Award Rates
The National Minimum Wage from 1 July 2026 is $26.44 per hour, or $1,004.90 per week for 38 hours. Casual employees receive $33.05 per hour including the 25% loading. However, many industries have award rates that are higher than the minimum. The calculator uses the rate you enter – it does not apply award rates automatically. If you are covered by an award, check your specific classification rate from the Fair Work Ombudsman’s pay guides or reference tables. The figures here are averages or minimums, not a job median.
Tax and Take-Home Pay
The calculator estimates tax using the 2026–27 resident tax rates:
- $0 – $18,200: nil
- $18,201 – $45,000: 15%
- $45,001 – $135,000: 30%
- $135,001 – $190,000: 37%
- Over $190,000: 45%
Plus a 2% Medicare levy (using 2025–26 single reduction thresholds as 2026–27 thresholds were not confirmed). The tax estimate is on your gross annual pay (including casual loading if applicable). It does not deduct HELP loans, the Medicare levy surcharge, or salary packaging. For a more detailed breakdown, see our take-home pay page.
Using the Calculator
- Enter your base hourly rate (e.g., $30.00).
- If casual, check the “Add 25% casual loading” box.
- The calculator shows weekly, fortnightly, and annual gross pay.
- It also estimates super (12% on top) and tax (with Medicare).
Remember: the annual figure is hourly × hours per week × 52. It assumes you work every week of the year. If you take unpaid leave, your actual annual income will be lower. The calculator is a guide, not a binding determination.

Why Use This Hourly to Salary Calculator?
Whether you are negotiating a salary, comparing job offers, or planning your budget, converting your hourly rate to annual pay helps you see the big picture. The inclusion of casual loading and super paid on top makes it especially useful for casual workers who need to account for the loading and understand their total remuneration. The calculator is free, no login required, and uses current Fair Work and ATO figures.
Remember: the National Minimum Wage and award rates are minimums – your actual pay may be higher. The ABS Average Weekly Earnings for full-time adult ordinary time was $2,083.70 per week in May 2026, but that is an average across all industries, not a median for your job. Always check your specific award or agreement.
