NDIS Support Worker Salary: Hourly Rates, Annual Pay, and Tax in 2026–27
An NDIS support worker on the SCHADS Award Level 3 pay point earns a minimum hourly rate that is the standard rate for allowances; annual pay is hourly rate × 38 hours × 52 weeks, with super and tax estimated separately.
Understanding the NDIS Support Worker Salary
An NDIS support worker salary is typically based on the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS Award). This award covers employees providing disability support services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme. The Fair Work Ombudsman explains that full-time employees work 38 hours per week, arranged as 5 shifts of 8 hours, or by agreement up to 10 or 12 hours for sleepover shifts.
Award Rates vs. NDIS Pricing Schedule
The SCHADS Award sets minimum pay rates for each classification level. The NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026–27 published by the NDIA provides maximum prices that providers can charge participants, not necessarily the salary an employee receives. For example, a Disability Support Worker Level 1 has a weekday daytime rate of $73.58 per hour under the Pricing Schedule, but the actual award rate may be lower. Always refer to the Fair Work Ombudsman’s tools for the correct minimum wage.
How to Calculate Annual Pay from an Hourly Rate
To estimate your annual NDIS support worker salary, use the formula:
Annual gross pay = hourly rate × hours per week × 52
We assume a standard 38-hour week for full-time employees. For part-time or casual workers, adjust the hours accordingly.
Example Calculation
If your hourly rate under the SCHADS Award is $30.00 (hypothetical), your annual gross pay would be:
$30.00 × 38 × 52 = $59,280
For a fortnightly figure, multiply weekly pay by 2:
Weekly pay = $30.00 × 38 = $1,140 Fortnightly pay = $1,140 × 2 = $2,280
Casual Loading
Casual employees receive a 25% loading on top of the minimum hourly rate. For example, if the base rate is $30.00, the casual rate is $37.50. When using the timesheet, check the box to add 25% casual loading – do not type a rate that already includes it.

Super Guarantee
Your employer must pay superannuation of 12% on your ordinary earnings, on top of your salary. This is capped at the maximum contribution base of $270,830 per year. For an annual salary of $59,280, super would be $7,113.60 paid into your fund.
Using the Timesheet Tool
Our the timesheet lets you enter your base hourly rate and optionally add casual loading. It calculates annual gross pay, tax, Medicare, and super. For more detailed pay guides, visit pay guides.
Important Notes
- This calculation assumes the same rate every week with no unpaid overtime, penalty rates, or allowances.
- Super is estimated at 12% of ordinary earnings only, paid on top.
- Tax uses the 2026–27 resident scale with full tax-free threshold.
- This is an estimate, not a determination of your pay or tax.
