Teachers Aide Salary Victoria: Convert Hourly Rates to Annual Pay
For a teachers aide in Victoria on the full-time adult average of $2,041.10 per week (38 hours), the annual gross is about $106,137, with super and tax estimated separately.
Understanding a Teachers Aide Salary Victoria
If you are looking at a teachers aide salary Victoria, you likely have an hourly rate or a salary offer and want to know the annual figure, fortnightly pay, tax, and super. This guide walks you through the conversion using the standard 38-hour week, explains the difference between the National Minimum Wage and award rates, and shows how to estimate your take-home pay.
The Basic Formula
Annual gross pay = hourly rate × hours per week × 52 weeks. This assumes you work the same hours every week, no unpaid overtime, no penalty rates, and no allowances. For a full-time role, we assume 38 hours per week, which is the ordinary hours under the Fair Work Act. For example, if your hourly rate is $30.00, then:
$30.00 × 38 × 52 = $59,280 per year.
If you are offered a salary, you can reverse the calculation: divide the annual figure by 52, then by hours per week (usually 38) to get the equivalent hourly rate.
Fortnightly Pay
Fortnightly pay is simply weekly pay multiplied by two. Using the same $30.00 per hour:
Weekly = $30.00 × 38 = $1,140.00 Fortnightly = $1,140.00 × 2 = $2,280.00
Many employers pay fortnightly, so this figure helps with budgeting.
The National Minimum Wage vs Award Rates
From 1 July 2026, the National Minimum Wage is $26.44 per hour, or $1,004.90 per week for 38 hours. Casual employees receive a 25% loading, making the casual minimum $33.05 per hour. However, most teachers aides in Victoria are covered by the Education Services (Schools) General Staff Award 2020, which sets higher minimum rates depending on classification and experience. The award rate is the legal minimum you must be paid, and it may be higher than the National Minimum Wage. Always check your award or enterprise agreement.
For a teachers aide salary Victoria, the average full-time adult ordinary time earnings in Victoria are $2,041.10 per week (Australian Bureau of Statistics, May 2026). This is an average across all full-time adult employees in Victoria, not a median for teachers aides specifically. Your actual rate may be different.
Casual Loading
If you work as a casual teachers aide, you are entitled to a 25% loading on top of the base hourly rate. This compensates for not receiving paid leave. When using our timesheet, you can check the “casual loading” box to add 25% to your base rate. Do not enter a rate that already includes casual loading – the tool adds it for you.
Superannuation
Superannuation guarantee is 12% of your ordinary earnings, paid by your employer on top of your gross pay. For the 2026–27 financial year, the maximum contribution base is $270,830. So if your annual ordinary earnings are below that, super is calculated as 12% of your gross. For example, on a $59,280 annual salary, super would be $7,113.60 extra. Super is not deducted from your pay; it is an additional contribution to your super fund.
Tax and Medicare Levy
Your annual gross pay is subject to Australian resident tax and the Medicare levy. For 2026–27, the tax rates are:
- $0 – $18,200: nil
- $18,201 – $45,000: 15% on excess over $18,200
- $45,001 – $135,000: 30% on excess over $45,000
- $135,001 – $190,000: 37% on excess over $135,000
- $190,001+: 45% on excess over $190,000
Medicare levy is generally 2% of your taxable income. The 2025–26 single reduction thresholds are used here because the 2026–27 thresholds were not confirmed at the time of this guide.
Using the $59,280 annual example:
- Tax: $0 on first $18,200, then 15% on $26,800 ($4,020), then 30% on $14,280 ($4,284) = total tax $8,304.
- Medicare: 2% of $59,280 = $1,185.60.
- After tax and Medicare: $59,280 – $8,304 – $1,185.60 = $49,790.40.
This is an estimate. It does not include HELP repayments, Medicare levy surcharge, or salary packaging.
Using the Timesheet
Our timesheet is the home page. You type your base hourly rate (without casual loading) and the tool shows annual, fortnightly, weekly, and monthly figures. It also estimates tax, Medicare, and super. For a teachers aide salary Victoria, you can enter your award rate or the average hourly equivalent of $2,041.10 per week (which is about $53.71 per hour for 38 hours). Remember, that average is not a median for your job.

Disclaimer
Annual pay here is hourly rate × hours per week × 52. It assumes the same rate every week, no unpaid overtime, no penalty rates, no allowances, and no salary sacrifice. Super is estimated at 12% of ordinary earnings only, paid on top, and stops at the $270,830 maximum contribution base. Tax is the 2026–27 resident scale with the full tax-free threshold. Medicare uses the 2025–26 single reduction thresholds because the 2026–27 reduction thresholds were not confirmed here. HELP, the Medicare levy surcharge, and salary packaging are not deducted. This is an estimate, not a determination of your pay or tax.
Open the same rate on the home timesheet. Read the reference tables before treating a figure as your pay.
