From Jock Landale Salary to Your Pay: A Guide to Hourly-to-Annual Conversion
For a full-time employee working 38 ordinary hours per week, annual gross pay equals the hourly rate multiplied by 38, then by 52.
Understanding the Hourly-to-Annual Conversion
Whether you are curious about Jock Landale salary figures or your own earnings, converting an hourly rate to an annual salary is straightforward. The standard formula used across Australian workplaces is:
Annual gross pay = hourly rate × hours per week × 52
For full-time employees covered by a modern award or the National Employment Standards, the ordinary hours are 38 per week. This is the figure used by the Fair Work Ombudsman in its Pay and Conditions Tool and by the Fair Work Commission when setting the National Minimum Wage. If you work part-time or casual, your weekly hours may differ, but the same formula applies.
The National Minimum Wage and Award Rates
From 1 July 2026, the National Minimum Wage is $26.44 per hour, or $1,004.90 per week for 38 hours. This is the base rate for adult employees not covered by an award or registered agreement. For casual employees, a 25% loading applies, bringing the rate to $33.05 per hour.
Award rates are often higher. For example, the Pilots Award sets annual salaries that must be converted to an hourly rate by dividing the annual salary by 52 weeks and then by 38 hours for full-time employees. Casual pilots use a different divisor (800 flying hours) plus a 25% loading. Always check the specific award that applies to your industry using the pay guides or the minimum wage page.
Casual Loading and Superannuation
Casual loading is paid on top of the base hourly rate and is intended to compensate for the lack of paid leave entitlements. When using the timesheet, you can tick a checkbox to add 25% casual loading to your base rate. Do not enter a rate that already includes loading.
Superannuation is calculated separately. The super guarantee is 12% of your ordinary time earnings, paid by your employer on top of your salary. It does not reduce your take-home pay. The maximum contribution base for 2026–27 is $270,830, meaning super stops accruing once your earnings exceed that amount. For more details, see super and packaging.
Tax and Medicare
Your annual gross pay is used to calculate income tax and the Medicare levy. For the 2026–27 financial year, the resident tax rates are:
- Nil up to $18,200
- 15% from $18,201 to $45,000
- 30% from $45,001 to $135,000
- 37% from $135,001 to $190,000
- 45% above $190,000
The Medicare levy is generally 2% of your taxable income. The reduction thresholds for singles are based on 2025–26 figures as the 2026–27 thresholds were not confirmed at the time of this guide. Use take-home pay to estimate your net income after tax and Medicare.
Using the Timesheet Tool
Our the timesheet lets you enter your base hourly rate and toggle casual loading. It then calculates your weekly, fortnightly, and annual gross pay, as well as estimated tax, Medicare, and super. The tool assumes 38 hours per week unless you change the hours. It does not account for penalty rates, allowances, or salary sacrifice.
Jock Landale Salary in Context
Professional athletes like Jock Landale negotiate individual contracts that are not covered by awards. If you see a reported annual figure, you can reverse-engineer an equivalent hourly rate by dividing by 52 weeks and then by the expected weekly hours. For a typical full-time role, that would be 38 hours. However, athletes’ hours are irregular and often include training, travel, and game time. The same principle applies to any salaried role: the hourly rate is the annual salary divided by the total hours worked. For most employees, the Fair Work Ombudsman’s tools provide the correct award rates.
Fortnightly Pay
Many employers pay fortnightly. Your fortnightly gross pay is simply your weekly pay multiplied by two. For example, if you earn $1,000 per week, your fortnightly pay is $2,000. The average pay page shows that full-time adult ordinary time earnings were $2,083.70 per week according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (May 2026), which translates to $4,167.40 per fortnight.
Important Disclaimer
The annual pay shown here is an estimate based on the formula hourly rate × hours per week × 52. It assumes the same rate every week, no unpaid overtime, no penalty rates, no allowances, and no salary sacrifice. Super is estimated at 12% of ordinary earnings only, paid on top, and stops at the $270,830 maximum contribution base. Tax uses the 2026–27 resident scale with the full tax-free threshold. Medicare uses the 2025–26 single reduction thresholds because the 2026–27 reduction thresholds were not confirmed here. HELP, the Medicare levy surcharge, and salary packaging are not deducted. This is an estimate, not a determination of your pay or tax. For award-specific rates, always refer to the Fair Work Ombudsman’s Pay and Conditions Tool or your award.
